Must-Have Apps For Your Spiritual Well-being

Apps have become tools that help to simplify our lives. Some apps help us to track habits and develop new ones. Other apps assist us with time management hacks or gentle health reminders. They can be used to keep us informed and motivated. I love apps! My favorite usually consists of productivity, fitness, habit tracker, and social media management apps such as:

  • Productive Habit Tracker - Make new habits by creating new daily goals.

  • Hootsuite - Preplan and schedule your social media post.

  • My Fitness Pal - Track your food.

  • Nike Run Club - Crush your running ambitions.

  • Preview App - Organize and design your Instagram feed before making it live.

When it comes to developing intimacy with God, here are a few that have been such sweet blessings to have at my fingertips:

1. Abide App

This app is a fantastic tool for guided Christian meditations and better sleep. The Word of God encourages us to meditate on the word of God day and night. What better way to start and end the day than with scriptural focused guided meditations, with soft and gentle background noise, or a beautiful biblical-based bedtime story.

Here’s what the app store says about this app:

Abide is the #1 Christian meditation app to stress less and sleep better. Find deep rest with our bedtime stories as you listen to stories based on the Bible. Wake up with our daily meditations that will fuel your mind for the day ahead. Join the millions of people meditating with Abide, including Grammy award-winning singers, church leaders, and Christian therapists.

Abide is easy to use. Come in, press play, and feel renewed by God’s spirit. All meditations are based on Biblical scriptures.

Daily guided meditations are available in lengths of 2, 5, 10, and 15 minutes so you can choose the perfect range to fit with your schedule.

Topics Include:

  • Overcoming anxiety and worry

  • Conquering depression

  • Sleep

  • Daily devotion

  • Managing stress

  • Dealing with insomnia and sleep challenges

  • Discovering purpose

  • Finding happiness

  • Addiction recovery

  • Forgiveness

  • Praying for children

  • Relationship challenges

  • Finances

  • Health concerns

  • Books of the Bible

  • And much more...

I have been using this app for a few years now, and it has brought me such peace and joy as I carve out daily quiet time to meditate and center myself in the love of Christ. I also highly recommend it if you tend to struggle with getting to sleep at night. Instead of allowing your mind to wander to and fro, what better than to allow the peace of God cover over your thoughts and rock you into sweet peace.

2. First15 App

I have just recently downloaded this app after hearing Adrienne Houghton talk about it. One of my goals for 2020 has been to level up; mentally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically. I have set high goals for getting my body and shape and carved out a line of books I want to read this year. Emotionally and spiritually, recognize that to become my best and navigate through each scenario throughout the day, I need to begin my day at the feet of Jesus.

Sometimes I feel extremely rushed in the morning, or before I get the chance to take some time, I have a task that needs to attend to. However, I started to notice that this was becoming a never-ending thing of distractions to get me out of that precious place with God in the morning. For me, I have needed to set the boundary that no matter what, even if it’s just for 15 minutes, I am going to make sure I take that time.

This app is helping me to do that. I am thoroughly enjoying each daily devotional, prayer, and worship music recommendation provided.

Here’s what the app store says about First15:

We all need to know our Creator. We all have a longing to be fully known and fully loved by an all-knowing, all-loving God. First15, a resource of Denison Ministries, is a daily devotional written by Craig Denison out of the belief that 15 minutes with God can change your life.

God longs to fill you by his refreshing, life-giving presence. He wants to meet you in the first moments of your day that your emotions, thoughts, beliefs, and actions would be founded on his unconditional love.

Give God 15 minutes today and let him love you, empower you, heal you, free you, and establish you in the reality of his nearness.

I want to hear from you. What are some of your favorite apps on your phone?

Until next time,
